Wi-Fi

I applied for Wi-Fi a few days ago. So far the connection is deemed ok albiet being as slow as dial-up. Staying on the highest floor does have its advantages then. Seems like I can get a connection even when my friends living downstairs can’t.

This doesn’t mean that I will be online often though. I only applied for this because I am truly in desperate need of the internet. We have begun recieving our assignments and unsurprisingly, the computer labs now have a long queue to them.

I wanted to blog about something else, but I forgot what it was. Hmm….. maybe next time then.

ps* 4 more days before I’m back in KK!

For a friend

Life is unpredictable…
We cope whichever way we are able…
Hoping it will be safe and comfortable…

Sometimes it just goes mad.

I don’t know what to say…
I got the news today…
A friend of mine met an accident yesterday…

He didn’t survive it.

I am very sad…
It is just too bad…
He lost everything he had…

He is never coming back.

Good book and an interesting site

I’m dropping in to recomend another book. ‘Under an English Heaven’ by Robert Radcliffe. I don’t have much time left so I won’t elaborate about it. I’d just say that it’s really good. Google it for a review or summary.

and also another site, about writting mostly. tips and resources and stuff. Haven’t got the time to really browse it but it looks interesting.
wild mind

ps* I can’t believe that I have one year’s worth of posts in my old site. I can’t transfer it over to my new blog. Seems such a waste. All my memories will be gone. Just like that. Maybe it’s better to keep a manually written diary then?

The Bartimaeus Trilogy

Just a quick post. If any of you are looking for a good book to spend your time with. I would recomend The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud. Seriously, these books are the best. Really different from the Harry Potter books but much better. It starts with ‘The Amulet of Samarkand’, ‘The Golem’s Eye’ and ends with ‘Ptolemy’s Gate’. The 6th HP book was a bit of a disappoinment but these books are not. check out this link to read about the books.

‘new’ year

It’s January 2006 and I have to keep reminding myself to write 2006 instead of 2005. Right now, I’m using one of the ancient computers in the computer lab of my hostel. It’s confirmed that this year, Wi-fi will be provided to us for a fee of RM50. I’m not sure whether I’ll sign up or not. See how things go.

I attended a little reunion a few days ago. Met up with my primary 6 classmates. It was fun. We got to catch up with each other. Most of them have changed a lot. I couldn’t recognise some of them. But overall, we had fun recalling back our primary school memories. (haha… memories… sounds like very old people) A few of them have gone overseas while some will be going this year.

Oh ya, I’ll talk a bit bout my new hostel. It’s much more nicer than the one I lived in last year. We got new furniture. Even pillows and mattresses but our rooms still lacked chairs and a bedside shelf. So we only have the sofa set to lounge on right now.

School is as usual. Everyone, from our head of program to our seniors promised (guaranteed) us that this year will be ‘the year of hell’ for us. No more play time cos we’ll be buried under assignments (which the seniors claimed that we’ll definitely have to do a few hundred drafts before it’s acepted) and tests. One of our seniors actually managed to get 99.95 for his TER !!! Absolutely unimaginable. The top 0.05% in the world.

Next week we’ll start classes proper so I don’t think I’ll be able to post much. Maybe (maybe) during Chinese New Year break. I’ll definitely be back in KK by then. Hopefully I can going house visiting (aka ang pao collecting) with some of my friends.

Till then.

[edit] I won’t be signing up for the wi-fi. The service is so slow and too weak. I’ve been told that it’s difficult to get a signal indoors and I can actually see people sitting in the open space outside my block with their laptops.[/edit]
