exam mood NOT

I haven’t gotten into an exam mood yet. I hope I wake up soon or I’m going to be in hot soup… I find myself blogging more frequently too. (???) It ususally happens to me like this, when I’m supposed to be doing something else, I blog instead. >.< So I think I'll be blogging more frequently from now on???

Went through a few blogs just now. Aiming: Hope you get the other two replies from the unis you’re still waitting for. :) Which one will you be going then? UniTas?? Haha… I can’t believe they sent you a scholarship for Environmental Design, totally outside the spectrum of Nursing. lol. I’m sure Jonathan will suggest UniTas if you ask him, he’s been looking for ppl to drag along to that place. Said its Paradise. :P I told him to choose somewhere else nearer to civilisation…

Sleepy me

I’ll admit, I have this tendency to doze of during classes. No matter how many hours of sleep I had the night before, once I’m sitting at my table in class, I won’t last 5 minutes. =P The rest of the double period will then be a series of disjointed consciousness where I struggle to keep awake and the urge to just ZZzz…… Most of the time, I end up with fragments of lesson that make absolutely no sense to me since I seem to be in limbo at those crucial moments when my lecturer is explaining something new or important. I admire Ru Xing tremendously, she can stay awake from 8 - 4 while me and ling weng doze off. haha… I happen to sit in the first row too, right smack in the middle of the room. So my lecturers will definitely know when I’m NOT paying attention (and since I have not perfected the art of doing this even after one year’s worth of practice), its a wonder none of them has whacked me on the head out of exasperation yet.

However, I chanced upon this article a few days ago discussing why teenagers tend to be night owls, not going to bed until the wee hours of the morning. Thus, we generally act like zombies the next morning. My housemate is a coffee junkie (she denies it vehemently). Anyway, apparently studies conducted by some National Sleeping Foundation (I think??!?!) in the US has found that teenagers sleep like so because we’re growing. >.< So Around this period, we tend to be night owls while as we get older, we’ll gradually shift towards the ‘normal’ pattern and finally becoming morning larks when we’re old grannies and grandpas. :P There’s more, because we are forced to wake up when we’re supposed to be sleeping (remember those days when school starts at the crazy hour of 7.00 in the morning and we have to wake up at 5 am to get there on time?), we do not fuction properly, as in, we do not perform our best. (Argh, our finals start at 7.00am!!!)

In conclusion, I think it’ll be highly desirable if our classes start at 9/10am. Anyone with me?

Imagine who?

Imagine Me & You………………… haha… ok, it was the title of this movie that I watched with my housemates. Well, I didn’t really watched the whole thing since I was napping when they started and they *ahem* were considerate enough to ‘not-disturb-my-slumber’ (!!!). So when I woke up, they were already halfway through. Basically, it’s a story about this girl who has this amazing guy (who of course loves her unconditionally) but she instead (or there wouldn’t be a story anyway), falls head over heels for another person, WHICH happens to be the florist they hired for the wedding, WHICH happens to be …………………… a woman. O.o haha, did I get your attention? :P Anyway, the whole thing was about her struggling with her feelings, uncertainties etc… It didn’t help that she was already married to the guy, but it also didn’t stop her from seeing the other woman also. Story goes on, she tries to stop, guy founds out, he leaves her *sob*, she goes after the girl, and they lived happily ever after. Plot wise, it isn’t something new but there was lots of humour in it, funny scenes like when her parents found out (!!!). Plus, it’s a British film with British cast (guys with cute British accents!!!!). All of us thought her pretty dumb to give up the guy for another woman, but……… nevermind. As Daphne says, jiwang movie. ;)

I have so much to say, but I don’t know how to put it down into words…… trials is making me think about my future, and my past as well. I never regretted my childhood. I think it was wonderful, exciting…

After reading Nicholas Sparks’ “Three Weeks with my Brother”, it made me really thankful for what I have now. I mean, I always have but it was really sad to read about how he lost his parents and sister. Most of them were just taken abruptly from him. I can’t imagine that happening to me. And it makes me think of home all the more, not homesick, but I do look forward to going back……

Back to the books.

What on a plane ??

Snakes.

I watched ‘Snakes on a Plane’ on Friday. Went to Sunway for a while and since there was absolutely NO other movies to chose from (me being not too enthusiastic with horror films), Snakes was the only film that agreed with us. Plus it was showing at a convenient time. :P

I wasn’t expecting much from the movie, no matter that it had a cult following in the internet community almost a year before its release. I cannot comprehend how a movie that is set in an airplane can be exciting. I mean, there are only so many things that can happen in the plane (that’s why I never bothered to watch ‘Flight Plan’ – Jodie Foster is it?). The filmmakers obviously included every element, eg: pilot dies, plane plummets, panicky passengers, passenger losing their cool and turning on each other, brave airhostess…… everything. I think the only original thing was the snakes being smuggled on the plane (maybe we could make one with mutant spiders next time??? Cos alligators would be too large).

However, it wasn’t a total waste of money either. There were plenty of funny bits, and pretty gross scenes too. I think some were snipped too. The ending was a bit lame though, Jackson suddenly decides he has enough of these pestering snakes (which instinctively left him pretty much alone, I think these computer generated snakes ‘knew’ he was ‘The Star’ you see), so he got everyone to buckle up and shot open two windows. The poor snakes were then sucked out into the open air and it was over?!?! Of course there was the tricky part of landing without a pilot but apparently, anyone who has clocked 2000 miles on a flight simulator (or a PS2 for that matter) can handle it pretty well, as demonstrated by one of the passengers. Of course, the restart-just-before-you-crash button wasn’t included in the control panel as the person later found out. Lol. It was a happy ending. =)

I don’t think I’ll have any second thoughts about taking flying in a plane. Nor will I have phobia of snakes. Although my friend did say something about checking for snakes the next time he boards a plane. Lol. My verdict, not recommended unless you need to while away the time. The movie it pretty short, 1 and a half hours only. Wait a few years until TV3 airs it.

Talking bout movies, Eragon is coming out this December, and Philip Pullman’s ‘His Dark Materials’ will be out next year. =) And I’m interested to watch ‘Marie Antoinette’ too. I prefer watching movies that have more varied scenes rather than only one setting. Of course, epic ones are even better. Maybe I take it too seriously. After all, it’s only for entertainment but I like those that are really far fetched and not too ‘real life’. Something that is not possible in our everyday lives. Hence stuff like LOTR, and Star Wars…… I’d readily watch them.  I also have this habit of trying to think how some particular scenes are shot. I’ve been doing that since I was a kid, with advertisements, I’d always wondered how the products seem to fly around…… Haha…… Actually, the methods that I thought of last time were very funny since I still didn’t know anything about filmmaking.

Trials starting on the 22nd September. I have less than three weeks to prepare for it. >.<
