What have I been Up To – Part III

Heh, I thought I would only split this post into 2 parts but seems like there needs to be a part 3 now. Oh well…

Now see, oh lol… I’m starting to sound like my lecturer. =P He has this habit of starting of his sentences with ‘Now see…’ whenever he answers our questions. >.< And we always try to imitate him.

Um, where was I? I’ve blogged about the dinner, the trip, the party… Ooohh… Now the ice skating!!!! Yay!!! I love ice skating. Not that good at it and I was like the slowest skater amongst them all (those who knew how to skate anyway). But I would in my defence say that I did not get that much of an opportunity to skate anyway when I was in Malaysia since KK does not have an ice rink =( (argh, when are we gonna get one????). Everyone was like wheezing around the rink and Tony even did some stunts. *Sigh* I’m so envious. Wish I could skate like that. Got some pointers that night on how to skate backwards and gosh, it was funny trying it out because I couldn’t move at first and then not much after that. Haha…… practise practise. Since it was a Saturday night, it was disco night at the ice arena. So cool, all the lights and music.

We started off at the kiddies section to help Affy and Lisa get the hang of things and then it was off to the big rink to race each other. Affy and Lisa were really quick learners and super brave to try things out on their own so quickly. Although I was surprised at first that Lisa wasn’t already a good skater. I thought coming from S. Korea, one would spend most winters at the nearest ice rink (I know I would anyway) =P.

And today, or yesterday since it’s past midnight, I went to this artist fair on Whitmore Square. I am so glad that I went. Saw lots of interesting stuff and finally met the artist whose paintings I so like. First saw them at the Urban Cow Studio last year and I immediately love her bubbly, bright drawings. There are all so cute and adorable. Perfect for a children’s book. We even got our portraits painted!!! Wee…

It was so worth it. There were quite a number of stalls on display with lovely artworks from normal to bizarre. We also signed up for free workshops. I went for Felt toy making!!! I’ve always seen these handmade toys for sale at art shops and they’re so expensive. Now I get to make my own for free!!! =) Happy day.

Oh well, it was a great week. I can’t believe that I had only just finished exams 5 days ago. It felt like a week at least, and we managed to cram in so many activities in the space of a few days. All the movie nights and just plain hanging out together. I’m not surprised I totally zoned out a few hours ago. I probably needed that rest. I hope things would start to slow down a bit starting next week since people are starting to leave now leaving only those who’re from Adelaide to ‘make do’. I’ll be staying here till January and I hope (for my sake??) that the weather would be kind to me. It has been pretty cool these few days, like 13 – 16 degrees which is annoying since I packed my winter stuff and was all set to wear shorts and thongs…

Ooh… last but not least. I finally got this: =)

Hehe…. Had my interview like in the middle of exams which was freakish since I was fretting about my time being used up but having to wait around with all the other candidates. The interview process was an experience all right. First time I had such a big group interview, I think there were at least 30 of us and omg, the minute I walked into the room I was like ‘Oh no… what have I gotten myself into?’. I stood out like I never did before in all the time I was here in Adelaide. Seriously, there were all Caucasians and there was just me and another asian girl in the room and she was aussie born anyway. It was only then that I realised I’ve never actually seen any asian working in any of the Cotton On stores (well, in Adelaide anyway). But I told myself to not think about looking like an idiot and just relax (haha..). We had to talk to the group about why we want to work at Cotton On and why they should also employ the person sitting next to us (O_O). It was definitely scary and I was so glad that I got the job. =) Gonna be working as a Christmas Casual at their store during the Christmas period and I’m really looking forward to it. I have no experience at all in retail so it’ll be cool to see how things are run. Really hope I won’t make a muck of things when I’m there and best thing is, we get 30% discount at any of the Cotton On Group stores. Yay!!!

More pictures up in facebook.
Off to brunch in a few hours time… Ooh… Can’t wait for crepes and eggs and bacon…

Part 2!!!! Like so fun!!!

End of the World Party at HQ which is like the biggest club in the city. Trust the meddies to think of organising something like this and involve charity as well. It was one big night of dance and drinks with all students from Adelaide Uni, Flinders and UniSA. I can’t believe how packed HQ was that night. A Thursday night, not to say the least. Then again, it was my first time there so I have no idea how happening the place is on usual days. =P Saw heaps of people we know and gosh, its amazing how we manage to find each other in all the different dance floors and bars and stuff. I liked the Soho Bar best probably cos it had an open air dance floor and so was less stuffy (and brighter, couldn’t see anything in the others).

Oh, and I finally got the wear my $20 dress from Bluejuice!!! I’m so happy because that dress was originally selling for $110 O_O No way I would spend that much on the dress. The beading in front is exquisite and probably took ages to sew on. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the marked down price for it.

Exams were done and over with last Tuesday (yay!!) and since then we just basically went a bit overboard with everything. Trying to cram all sorts of activities in before the end of the week and before people start leaving Adelaide to go back home. Seriously, I haven’t had the chance to get a good long sleep since swot vac and I just had my proof a few minutes ago when I actually slept my whole evening and night away. It’s like 1.30 am right now and I had been sleeping since 5 in the evening. Gosh, gave myself quite a surprise there. I was just meaning to take a short nap before dinner and now I’ve slept through it. I’ll be heading of to bed again after this and then I’ll need to wake up in time for some hot brunch with friends. =)

Yup, so the title of this post says it all, what have I been up to these past few days (heaps!!!). Let’s see, we had a huge dinner at Hog’s Breath like that night itself right after exams. Omg, the food there is delicious!! I love the steak there and the curly fries. Their portions are huge so it was like post - exams binge for us and it was a good ‘reward’ for us. haha…

The day after (Wednesday), a bunch of us drove up to Victor Harbour (bout 2 hours) for a day at the beach. I don’t know why Victor Harbour (me thinks Amanda wanted to see penguins) but I’ve never been up there before so I was curious. The weather was cool and cloudy, not the perfect day for a beach trip but we were so desperate to get away from everything I guess it would take at least a blazing thunderstorm to deter us.

Petar driving and singing Backstreet Boys!!! Lol, we got hold of his iPod and he had the funniest songs in his top 25 playlist. =P All the chick songs and um, mitral stenosis. Hahaha…

Standing around deciding what to do once we got here… It was funny cos the minute we got out of our cars, we had random people coming up to us asking if we were Schoolies. (!!!) We must really look like a bunch of high school kids. T_T We even had the Channel & news reporter coming up to ask us questions. Some people were suggesting that we should just pretend we were high school kids from some random school and act real rowdy. Lol. Schoolies is this big end-of-exams weekend party that happens every year down at Victor Harbour. Basically high school kids come down here after their exams to party and get drunk. =P I think the only other state that has something like this in such a big scale is Queensland, down at Surfer’s Paradise, Gold Coast. =)

We finally shuffled along and took a group picture.

This is Romain who is finally acknowledging his French side (publicly). =)

After a lunch of fish and chips (the proper sea side meal =P) we again shuffled along to some playground nearby and started taking over the whole area, terrorising a few kids in the process (joking). Amanda freaked out when she saw the ghost train cos it made noises O_o. They have really nice playgrounds here. I wish KK had nice playgrounds instead of the rusty metal bars and swings only. =(

Joel thinking he is a bat (or batman???)

Of course when you have Aussies around, especially Aussies and Curries, you’re bound to have them playing cricket. I still have no idea how the game works, basically, I just run when they tell me too and try not to get caught out. =P

It rain a little later in the afternoon which discouraged us from jumping into the sea but overall it was fun. Exhausting really because most of us haven’t recovered from yesterday’s exams but the open sea and fresh breeze is so exhilarating after being cooped up so much for the past few weeks.
