As much as it irks me to admit it. Melbourne is definitely bigger and better than Radelaide (Adelaide). Adelaide is basically a scaled down version of Melbourne with less people and less pollution. =P

I love the randomness and spontaneity of the things and people there.

Southgate is lovely, the Crown Casino is too noisy, Melbourne Central will be wonderful is the shops open late and China Town is weird but they serve good food. Toilets are hard to find and waitresses all seem rather rude. =P

Basically, I had approximately 3 days to squeeze everything and everywhere in. New Year’s Day was spent with friends and walking aimlessly up and down Swanston St looking at nothing and ending up at the Myer Home Entertainment Centre for lack of places to go.

Then there was Brunswick St for the cool shopping and cafe haunts and Smith St for really cheap sports brand stuff, Lygon for the gelati which wasn’t open but Koko Black was so it was cool. South Gate for the buskers and cool walks. Collins St to ogle and sigh at the designer labels, up to the Eureka to be blown away by the lights of Melbourne. Drove up all the way to the Dandenong Ranges for Miss Marples famous scones and then back to Adelaide via the Great Ocean Road.

In between, just slot in the odd alleys and side streets. Union and Degraves for the graffiti, Block Place and Flinders for cafes. Hardware lane for more of the same…

China Town always open for late night snacks and we splurged at some bejing restaurant there and our bill came up to $200+ *faints* though it was a good meal. The rest were pretty decent priced meals and we had western, viet, thai, indian, jap while we were there. I was told that the Wonton mee at Crown Food Court was good.

Shopping in Melbourne is cheaper than Adelaide. My best buys??? A Nike Jacket at 40% off the marked price which brought it down to $48!! I was ecstatic when it came in XS sizes. Plus I did not pack for the near winter weather in Melbourne so the jacket was much appreciated. Adelaide is blazingly hot right now, who would’ve thought that Melbourne people are still enjoying 10 degree temperatures???? And a pair of Levi’s Jeans at 50% off the marked price too so that was $35. No luck with shoes or dresses though and I got rather sick of shopping after a day or two.

back to KK soon… soon soon soon….. I want to go home.
