An appology to my feet

The oxfords from Charles and Keith…
My brief foray into the world of shoes (other than the usual sneakers and flip flops) has so far caused my dearly. I have had to deal with aching feet, blisters, squashed toes and the what nots (ruined posture????). It got me wondering whether all these are worth the 5 seconds ‘Wow I love your shoe / dress ensemble’. Sure you get to feel great for about 1/3 of the evening but for the rest of the outing, you’re just trying not to think about how much your feet is hurting or how your shoe is NOT cutting into your skin (ouch). By the time you get home, you’re secretly craving for a basin of warm scented water to soak your poor feet in. Plus it doesn’t help that living in Adelaide means that everywhere is pretty much ‘within walking distance’ which makes ‘lets take a cab’ suggestion pretty much obsolete.
I very much wonder if I want to continue torturing myself in this way. Sure you do hear the advice that new shoes take time getting used to and once they’ve been worn down a bit, it gets much more comfortable. Maybe I should just buy 2nd hand shoes then, or get someone to wear my new shoes for a bit before I try them on =P. I’m definitely wearing my favourite Ipanema to the Fringe tonight. Yesterday’s Skullduggery event saw me walking almost the whole way to HQ in my heels and then dancing for the next, oh, 4 hours in them. I couldn’t be more grateful when it was time to leave and not having to walk back this time. I can walk in heels, I just can stand in them for so many hours yet. Lame.
I shall reserve these painful accessories to select occasions that require it. Also, I must make it a point to find out how much walking is required.
Pics from last night’s SkullDug. I wasn’t planning on going at all. I envisioned a quite night by myself reading a book when I got an sms from a friend saying they’ve decided to go. I did promise that I will go if they do so there goes my night. In a way, I was glad I went. Although HQ was packed to the brim and it was all hot and crowded, we did manage to have quite a fun time. I brought just enough money for my ticket and therefore drank water only for the rest of the night. Haha… Not quite what the club anticipated but anyway… It was all good. SkullDug is the biggest uni event of the year organised by the Adelaide med school students. I’m thinking its best I go experience this before clinical rotations prevent me from doing so. Check out the site. It’s pretty cool. =)
The rest are in facebook. =P
