Juggernaut it is

Friday witnessed the official opening of the Adelaide Fringe. The biggest (only) arts and performance festival in the Southern Hemisphere. I have always wanted to attend the parade and this is the first time I was actually back in time for the Fringe. Adelaide is as Adelaide does. I reckon the whole Adelaide population (which isn’t much comparatively) turned up and milled around Rundle St to watch the procession and the side shows. Haha…. being short and small, it was easy for me to squeeze my way near the front and I got to see most of the parade although my camera taking skills are deplorable in these twilight moments.

Quirky. That’s what I would use to describe the Fringe. The best way to enjoy it is to be open to anything and let all the sights and sounds just wash over you. The Garden of Unearthly Delights is a mixture of side shows and random walking artists, music bands, fairy lights, sand pits, weird sculptures and good times. I was told that the gardens is similar to the Moon Festival in Melbourne but I wouldn’t know.

Now, what say you to breakfast at Tiffany’s??

  1. oooo… Melbourne holds Moon Festivals? I have never been to quirky festivals of any sort outside of Malaysia. But there is one event called the annual Bathtub Races in the little town where I live that doesn’t catch my interest at all.
